Default 1928 rumble lid adjustment

Have a 28 roadster and the handle won't latch because the gap from the body to the lid edge is way too much. It doesn't look as there is any adjustment at the hinge area because it is triangulated to the sides of the body. What is the cure. I'm talking an inch or better.

GSCOV,

If you have the Ford Service Bulletins, refer to page 411 (January 1930). This may be your problem?

Also...you may have a 1930 deck door???

All the lids are physically the same size. We will need some photos, 1" is a bunch
of clearance. Try this for a start....

Here are some ideas, I have no idea which one might help is if any.

How well does the rumble lid match the contours of the surrounding body? It is possible that the lid or the quarters are out of shape. So first see if the basic parts want to fit right without hinges.

Are you using repro rumble hinges?

If you are using repro rumble hinges with an original lid then I would suggest you change to original hinges and hardware. You might find everything just starts to fit.

The repro stuff is too short in all directions. For my car I needed to elongate the mounting hole. I am using a repro lid, which fits good, and repro hinges. I filed the holes on the mounting brackets the bolt to the body to get mine forward enough.
