I have heard they use a jack and put shims under the tenons of the spokes at the rim.

Have heard of wedges being driven in at the hub end and wood screws being driven into the spoke ends at the rim end.

Lang's makes the spokes so they sell them usually for less than the others. Go to funprojects.com and they will show you how to build a spoke press for about $50 dollars.

Yours and your passengers lives depend on those wheels. If the spokes are loose they need to be replaced. It's not hard and not too expensive. A broken wheel can ruin more than just your day.

Can't agree with scdiver enough. The only thing keeping you and your loved ones from a life threatening accident are those wood spokes. Think about it-is it really smart and responsible to trust your life and that of your family to 80+ year old wood???? All the shimming, tightening, jacking, wedging and other band aid methods are not fixes or cures. The only way to go is new spokes.
