Re: wooden spokes loss
I have heard they use a jack and put shims under the tenons of the spokes at the rim.

Re: wooden spokes loss
Have heard of wedges being driven in at the hub end and wood screws being driven into the spoke ends at the rim end.

Re: wooden spokes loss
Lang's makes the spokes so they sell them usually for less than the others. Go to funprojects.com and they will show you how to build a spoke press for about $50 dollars.
Yours and your passengers lives depend on those wheels. If the spokes are loose they need to be replaced. It's not hard and not too expensive. A broken wheel can ruin more than just your day. |

Re: wooden spokes loss
Can't agree with scdiver enough. The only thing keeping you and your loved ones from a life threatening accident are those wood spokes. Think about it-is it really smart and responsible to trust your life and that of your family to 80+ year old wood???? All the shimming, tightening, jacking, wedging and other band aid methods are not fixes or cures. The only way to go is new spokes.
