Left Ignition On in Old Ford
I inadvertently left the ignition on in my 32 Ford overnight. As a result, I have no spark. What have I screwed up here, points, coil, condenser, or all of the above? Sure would appreciate some Fordbarn feedback here.

At the very least, the points.. Maybe all 3. Look for a liquid coming out of the condenser and coil. If no liquids you may have lucked out.

Re: Left Ignition On in Old Ford
The points were likely closed but they shouldn't have been damaged since they are just passing the current on through. The condenser should be OK too but you might install a known good one and see if it has spark. The coil will just set there and try to be an electromagnet if the points were closed with ignition switch on. There is a good chance it overheated and damaged its primary windings.

Darned old cars with no buzzer telling you to turn things off!
Ditto Roto; points and condenser should not be harmed by continuous current, but there is good possibility that the coil primary windings are fried, |

Re: Left Ignition On in Old Ford
I did it on my 57 Buick. It did run after it cooled down but didn't like to run for too long. The plastic (bakelite?) part of the coil had cracked allowing the oil to leak out.

Skip Haney in Fla is the man to send it for a rebuild. He has done several for me & fine job too.

I hope those "bullet holes" are the stick-on decals--They do all look alike--
