oil filter conversion leak
Im dealing with an oil leak where the converter plate seals to the block, any reason I cant make up a good thicker cork gasket . I've read all the posts about poor quality thin plates , but I'm going to try this Fred

Re: oil filter conversion leak
IF, you buy (or already have) the earlier version replacement filter cartridge,
a better gasket comes in the box with it. |

Re: oil filter conversion leak
Try to find the gasket in either FEL-PRO or BEST GASKETS.

Re: oil filter conversion leak
The Ford schematic does not show a gasket between the block and the plate.

Re: oil filter conversion leak
On a cartridge style FYB oil filter, the diaphragm goes against the block filer boss (no glass) and the gasket between the cartridge canister and diaphragm plate.

Re: oil filter conversion leak
The gasket (6838) is the same for either application. You have to find a QUALITY GASKET and not CHINESIUM.

Re: oil filter conversion leak
Sometimes the adapter plate is dished in too much where the threaded
adapter goes through. When you have it off you may need to reshape the adapter plate so it holds tight enough against the block. Just an idea. |
