Default 55 Victoria trim code

I just purchased a 55 Vic with the trim code ATD1. I know the AT is black /white, but does anyone know what D1 stands for?

The car has power seats, power brakes, power steering, windshield washer and AC. It also has a knob above the radio with a "SPEAKER" nametag on it. The options are factory original.

I have the 55 Ford Accessory book, but it does not identify trim codes.

Any help would be appreciated.

For those of you who want to decode your old Ford, this publication was produced by Amos Publishing. They were advertised in Cars & Parts magazine many years ago called "Catalog of American Car ID Numbers 1950-1959". It is an invaluable source of information. As Cars & Parts Magazine is no longer published, you may have to locate one on eBay or similar? This volume not only covers Ford Products, but GM & Chrysler also.
Having said that, for the 55 Fords, I cannot see anything listing out a "D"? However there is a mention of "1" where it lists that as "First Trim Deviation". Sorry that I cannot be of anymore help.

Mercman from Oz is barking up the right tree

The 53-55 Ford Soft Trim Catalog shows a breakdown of the Data Plate. In the location that you are asking about is listed as "Trim Deviation".

The D1 means deviation 1.

Now what the first (or #1) trim deviation actually means is anybodys guess.

Best I can do.

AT is white vinyl and black body cloth maybe "deviation 1" sees the colours swapped black vinyl with white.

Thats a great guess !

Of course it brings up the next logical progression question of,
what is D2,D3,D4 , etc and are there really any other deviations other than D1 ?

I guess I will answer the next logical question. How many others have this trim code on the Victoria?
