Default Antique Vehicle appraisers in MA???

Hey All,

A month ago I had my 1950 Country Squire shipped to MA from San Diego. During the unloading process and loading process, the car received some pretty severe damage. The winch let go while unloading and slammed the rear end doing major body damage and destroying the tailgate, broke the drivers side front window, cracked the passenger front fender, and destroyed the rear splash pan. Also, when someone loaded the car, they stood on the roof; the foot prints are still there as well as a 200 pound person sized dent.

So, I was wondering if anyone in Massachusetts knows of a good appraiser. The insurance company has left it up to us to get the estimate, and I would love to get it done ASAP so I can begin dismantling the car. I had homed to have the body off it by now, and have the chassis in my shop being done.

Thanks in advance,

Jon

In MA you could try Jay Arrow, AAA Restorations, 84 Main St, Carver MA

Will see if I can locate anyone closer to you in the Acton area, and advise.

Who was the shipper ? Must be a small time renegade to be that careless.

It's about 100 miles but might be your best bet.

This is a good example of why to have "agreed value" insurance in force before shipment. From your description, it sounds like a total loss. When my '47 was rear-ended a couple of years ago, I got a "low ball" offer from an insurance carrier from the guy who hit me. I insisted that they assign an estimator qualified for "collector" cars. The actual bill from the body shop was $2,700, and that didn't include my time locating hard to find parts such a the rear bumper and guards and a replacement for my NOS trunk handle. My body shop did save the trunk lid, or the total would have been much higher.
