Default Manifold question

Hey everyone, I just took my manifolds off to blast and paint, I checked the surface to see if everything was level. Everything looks good, except one intake is lower than everything else. It is less that 1/32 of an inch, do I need to worry about that small of a difference? I plan to use gland rings on the ports, if that makes a difference on opinion.

If you plan on using gland rings you must check that the gland ring will fit in the gland ring grove in the manifold and the block. Measure the depth of the grove in the manifold and the depth of the grove in the block. Add those together and measure the width of the gland ring. You will have a gasket between the manifold and the block. You can measure the thickness of the old gasket. If the gland ring is wider than the sum of the gasket and the groves in the manifold and the block you will crack the manifold unless you reduce the width of the gland ring. I would recommend taking the depth measurements on each port there may be small differences that you may need to take into account for each port.

As far as the 1/32 droop you may get by but proceed with caution. Many nice manifolds have been broken trying to use gland rings and not taking into account the depth of the grooves and the width of the gland ring.

Very good information, thanks for the response. I will go ahead and take all the needed measurements.
