the 31 is a little different, but just fit it to the coloum and then do what is needed to attach it to the dash, not hard, some cut the support off the 29 tank but its not really necessary to do that

If I'm not mistaken, Tom Endy has pictures and instructions available for download.

I Have a 29 with the 31 bracket installed it has been in there for years and works fine. The bracket top attaches behind the removable dash piece where the ventilation holes are using 1/4 inch grade 8 bolts washers and lock washers for strength . I do recall it was necessary to make some angle washers to go under the bracket at the top so it would align with the steering column without binding . I made these from some very tough little square pieces of 3/8 inch thick lexan plastic by holding them up to a grinding wheel and "eyeballing" the angle . After a few tries I got it all to fit fine. The angle washers could also be made from aluminum, steel ,brass or copper whatever is available.

Hope this helps B0B in Michigan

Attached are a series of photos when I did my 29 coupe a number of years ago. There was another fellow that posted better photos on fordbarn when I did mine. I did a search, but could not find it.

The important thing is you have to make an adaptor bracket to mount the 31 steering column to a 28\29 car because the existing bolt holes do not line up with the 31 steering column mount. You can buy the 31 column mount hardware from Bratton's. All you need is a fabricated bracket to accommodate the holes in the 28\29 car with the 31 mount.

Right on Tom. Just about like I did both of my 29's. Except I found that one bracket was a bit longer than the other one. But was able to get both of them to work.
