Default 64 Galaxie ignition lock removal

help, I cannot get the ignition lock out of the switch assembly. Followed instructions turn key to acc, depress the set pin and turn the keyed lock counter clockwise, pull the lock with the key. Everything went well but assembly will not come out. Wiggling, tugging, depressing the pin and pulling, no good. Is there a trick to this?

No trick that I know of. I would spray some P B Blaster into the key slot and into the pin hole and work the key in and out and turn right and left and try the procedure again..

If any little tumbler pieces are broken, it might be a snag in there. It has to turn to align with the slot for it to come out. If anything is blocking it then that could be a problem.

Try spraying into the lock with carb cleaner or brake cleaner to dissolve any sticky crud, then jiggle every which way without forcing. It helps to hold your tongue just so, too!
