Home Made Frame Rotisserie for $20
Although my project is not exactly Fordbarn friendly, thought I would show you my $20 frame rotisserie in pictures that might get you to thinking when you may have a need for one .....
The frame is a heavily modified 32 frame but the rotisserie will work with any early V8 frame. I am using it to finish weld all the frame supports, clean up the welds, fill in the major indents in the frame due to the extensive work on it with duraglas, and then paint it all on the rotisserie. The piece of 2x6 was $8, the hole saw to go through it was $12. It has been working great and I am up to the Duraglasing of the major indents.

Re: Home Made Frame Rotisserie for $20
Neat idea! However, the way I do things, I would have hung that 2 X 6 in the wrong spot. So for me getting a second engine stand and shimming the casters as needed to make it level would be worthwhile. Then I could move that frame to several other wrong spots!

Re: Home Made Frame Rotisserie for $20
Thanks for checking it out, gents I didn't get into the details in my initial post. The engine stand ends must be level and I felt two engine stands would be more of a problem than just anchoring one end with wood. I just worked with what I had and went from there. I will also be able to mount my front axle, spring and radius rods with the frame upside down - makes that job a lot easier ....

Re: Home Made Frame Rotisserie for $20
Thanks as I felt the same way. My garage ceiling is pretty high but I have a 12' deep mezzanine on the backside giving me a place to store parts and, fortunately, a place to anchor the back post of the rotisserie ....

Re: Home Made Frame Rotisserie for $20
My father has a '32 frame on a rotisserie such as this right now, except he's using two engine stands so that it can be rolled around in the garage. Works fine and doesn't have any stability issues. He did eventually wind up running a bar between the two stands, and removed the narrow wheel bar on each. That made it a bit easier to move.

Re: Home Made Frame Rotisserie for $20
About 6 years ago when I did mine, I did use two engine stands that some one had gave me. But they were larger than normal and very steady. I like your idea Tom. Looks very workable. Turn and burn on it and maybe see you at Fathers Day Pomona in June? Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,just a thought. Good luck with it. Mark.

Re: Home Made Frame Rotisserie for $20
Hey, Mark - good to hear from you. No, no Pomona this year - I am on a pit crew for a Bonneville car and that will be my big trip this year. It's the HAMB special that's been featured there .....

Here is one I made. Modified stands to be parallel. Used a square tube to connect

Tom, good for you. Going to Bonneville. Spent eight years on the Speed Demon crew. I might go up there this August. Great place to hang out. Especially at the Nugget on Friday and Saturday night.

The best part is that it didn't cost you too much. I dig it!

Re: Home Made Frame Rotisserie for $20
Thank you - just about ready to lower the frame off the rotisserie now. It's been a great tool to work with ....
