Lincoln brakes
] First off I am not complaining. I just want to see if anybody else has had this problem. I am installing a set of M T Lincoln brakes on my 36 pickup, they are very nice, everything fits perfect. the only problem is the emergency brake cable tube is pointed up about 10-15 degrees instead of being parallel to the radius rod.
I plan to call them Monday to see if there is a different tube for different applications before I start heating and bending. Thanks, Bill |

Re: Lincoln brakes
Hey Bill some pictures of the MT's on my 39 peeekup, mine are about 10 degrees upward and the cable works well as is.
There is not a lot of room to angle that another way or move it up in the housing to work with the E-brake arrangement. Good luck and let us know how you make out. |

Re: Lincoln brakes
Thanks for the pictures, That's the way mine is. If I could heat and bend it down about 10 degrees it would have a pretty straight pull.
Thanks for the help, Bill |

Re: Lincoln brakes
The same thing happened on my 40. You might be better off modifying the base plate with new holes to give you the angle you desire. You could cut off the MT ears and make new ears out of washers cut to fit and weld them. That tubing kinks very easily. OR, you could carefully cut the weld around the tube and the base plate with a Dremel and re weld it to desired angle.
On my 40, I had to shorten my MT cable tubes. Last edited by 19Fordy; 03-05-2021 at 09:48 PM. |

Re: Lincoln brakes
I ran into the same on my 41 p/u. Be careful re-bending them; The ball on the end of the cable might not pass through. I flipped the cable guides over so the E brake cables to run on top of the wishbone. I converted the banjo to open drive. I cam post pix tomorrow.

Re: Lincoln brakes
I'm not sure if I understand the concern about the angle of the E-brake tube. I installed the MT Lincoln style brakes on my '46 Coupe, and unless MT changed the design in the last few years, I didn't notice any issue with the tube angle. The tubes in mine line up nicely with the E-brake actuating arm in the inside, and angle up a bit on the outside. I'd have to look at the originals that I took off, to see how Henry made them.
