Re: Cam bearing big/little hole
For the rear cam bearing place the large diameter hole on top this allows clearance for the fuel pump push rod. Do the same with the remaining bearings this gives more bearing surface due to the smaller diameter hole on the down side of the bearing to help support the cam a bit more.

Re: Cam bearing big/little hole
Thanks Ronnie, that was what I was thinking too, the thrust of the valve springs pushes down on the top of the cam, and even tho the size diff of the holes ain't much, it must have been done for a reason.
This engine has the big hole to the bottom, and I thought this was wrong. One guy said put em back in same as, and another said it don't matter, so I thought I better ask the gurus here. |

Also, make sure that you don't install the rear cam bearing too far forward or back - such that the fuel pump pushrod hole is partially blocked. I have seen this mistake many times - and usually it is found AFTER the engine to completely put together, in the car and somebody can't figure out why they can't install the fuel-pump, or it won't work. |
