Hood prop aftermarket

I bought the stainless hood prop that spans the radiator support rods. It came with no directions. Also, it came with two short supports and two long supports. My understanding is you use two supports. Why are 4 supplied, and which should I use on my '29 rpu?

It is a universal prop that can be used for many applications. Use what you think works best for your car. You can use either set, it only makes the hood open further with the long ones.

Be sure to put the fibre washers between the channel and the supports. I put a stainless washer in there to so it's a snug fit and just nip up the nyloc nut till they move but with a bit of resistance otherwise they rattle and anoy the shit out of you.

Russ, I have the short one's and had it for years. Works great. Just make sure that you have the rubber pieces on where the hood sits on. So much nicer than sitting the hood on the cowl.

The short ones are for 28-29, and the long ones for 30-31.

I have 2 sets of these on my two A/s..

Don't use them much, but sometimes they are handy as you can have both sides of hood up at once.

Saves opening and closing each side if you have to jump from side to side to work on engine.

Would I buy another set for my third A ....probably not.

I have a set on each of my cars and wouldn't be without them. It sure saves on the paint job. Wayne

Here are a couple of pictures of mine on my pickup.
They are the long pieces.
I like them because you don't have to lay the hood back on the other side.
Just remember to fold the hooks back into place before you try to close the hood.
