1932 "Model B" Zenith Choke knob rotations - and my new ride!
Hi All,
Recently I took delivery of a pretty cool and rare vehicle. I am located in Australia and the car is RHD and was made in Geelong. It is the only surviving example in the world. The other example was shipped to Mexico at some point, then burned to the ground. It was originally a newspaper reporters roadster - then after a new fleet of 1933's were obtained by the newspaper, this was converted into a delivery van. It is a 4 banger - all original mechanicals. Something completely new to me is the Zenith carb and GAV valve adjustment. I have researched and understand the basics. I just am struggling to find how many rotations (aprox) the knob should have. Mine has what I think to be an excessive number of rotations to go from open to closed. Does anyone know how many turns it should be? Thanks in advance - no wait - that's the distributor Adam |

The gav has maybe 8 to 10 turns, before it’s unthreaded open. You only should need > two from the closed position (cw). You usually run a B carb closed, with a half to whatever on a cold start.

Hi Chuck,
Thanks for the information. You inadvertently answered my other question - which is the starting position! Thanks very much. A |

Nice history and I remember those publications.
