Default column question on 1930 Model A

I recently had the chance to look at what i told is a 1930 model A ford coupe completely original. Its was my friends grandfathers and gave it to his dad before he died. Like i said its completely original, and the only gauge in it is a oil pressure gauge. Having had no experience with vehicles that old being more of a late 40s early 50s truck guy.
I had a question about the two levers on the column and what they are used for? i found online, timing advance? but couldn't find much more about them or how to use them.
I was wondering if someone could give me a free education about the levers and how to use them or a site that directs me to more information about them
Thanks

By the way WELCOME to the hobby.

There is something absoultely fantastic about an all original car.

Please feel free to ask any and ALL questions.

If you have not already done so please look up a local club in your area you will find there are no better people than Model A and T people.

On the front page of the Model A forum you will find a heading;

"Model A/AA Ford Websites...Can YOU add to the list?"

Go down to "RESEARCH DATA AN TECHNICAL ARTICLES"
You will find many sites with great technical information.
