This is a postal distribution center issue. They piled up all 3rd class mail in a corner somewhere last month when they couldn't handle the packages and first class mail. They say that they will get to the 3rd class pile up eventually. I wonder why this issue hasn't become headlines!! My local post office says they have no mail lying around and they wil get me my magazine as soon as they get it from the regional distribution center. In my case its all piled up in the St. Louis center. Please understand that this is not a V-8 Club issue.

I wrote the Club and got this note back...it's a distribution problem as Don said:

Hunt;
You have reached the web administrator of the Early Ford V-8 Club web site.
They are being delivered, just slowly.
We are asking you to be patient. You are not the only one waiting and you are correct, the problem is delivery
by the US Postal Service.

Mine came to Central New York a while ago. The post office is very slow these days. I sent a magazine to a friend in Indiana and it took a month to get there.

Same here in Southern AZ. Believe it is 100% USPS trying to work down holiday volume. Had trouble getting Christmas Priority Mail to NJ and MA....and that was with tracking and supposedly their "best" service option and plenty of lead time!!

Been almost a month now, should have been back to "normal" by now!

I got my model A news a few weeks ago and my dad who lives in the same town 3 miles away got his yesterday. One post office and 10,000 people and I guess they ship in approximately the same way. I'm guessing it was lost in a distribution center somewhere.

On Jan 21st I sent at note to Cornerstone asking about the delay. Here is their reply.

Hello Michael -
The November/December V-8 Times magazine is still being mailed to all Early Ford club members.
Most of the club has not received their issue yet.
The National Board of Directors is saying to be patient as it should arrive soon.
Thank you.

This is the Cover of the Nov/Dec 2020 issue of V8 Times that you all are chasing.
It seems strange that I received my copy a month ago on Christmas Eve, 24 Dec 2020 and I live in Australia?

That can be explained. Your magazine went from printer to shipping service that sends it to Australia. It did not have to enter the US Postal Service. That as they say, is the weakest link.

Third class mail delivery doesn't make corporate news media money and it doesn't get politicians elected. It'll never get fixed.

Isn't there a significant shipping surcharge for foreign subscriptions? Better service=higher charges.

Out of country members do pay significantly more for postage on the V-8 Times, but from past experience they usually get their Times later than those of us in the U.S. In my area a lot of the USPS carriers have retired and this new bunch that took their place are terrible. Getting someone else's mail in my box is a frequent occurance.

I’m sorry but the PO. Is at fault here , I worked for them for 38 years , been retired for 25 years . There was a lot of waste way back then ,so I can’t imagine the waste now . I have been in my local office twice in the past. Week , They couldn’t even change a 20 dollar bill either time . SUNSHINE

Actually, you are the victim of circumstances, specifically the mail "crunch" brought on by the confluence of the Covid-19 pandemic and the holiday season. The EFV8 club has taken advantage of a particular feature of the USPS that allows them to save a bunch on postage during ordinary times. It has worked to everyone's advantage for many years, but has proven unsatisfactory in these uncertain times.

It's like the old saying : "When I am right, no one remembers; when I am wrong, no one forgets".

Tubman you are correct. Saving on postage is the reason there has not been a dues increase in V-8 Club dues for many years.

I just have to say the V-8 Times is a very favorite car publication - right up there with Hemmings. Worth every penny of the club dues just for the articles and photos! When the Times arrives I head for the recliner for an intensive read

The big question or problem is who takes over as editor?

Seth, nobody has taken over at this time. Jerry is just looking for candidates to back him up in the event something happens. It's called a "disaster plan". All of us are getting older and it's a good idea to have someone who can take over at a moments notice in the event that the existing person could have a medical issue, become incapacitated, or even pass away suddenly. The big step is finding someone who has the skills that Jerry has developed over the years and that person can take over at a moments notice. Also if Jerry feels the need to retire that person can slide right into the job and nobody will even miss an issue of the Times.

Sounds like a good idea to have a succession plan. I would miss having the magazine every other month.

Etriggs, welcome to the club. I recommend that you also join your local regional group if you haven't already. You will meet others with similar interests and valuable contacts for parts and other resources. I wish I had joined an RG much sooner than I did.

Ps: I received my Jan/Feb issue on 2/13 in Indiana.

Finally received my Nov./Dec. issue today, Feb. 24th! It's kind of like Christmas in February.
