Default welds on 1930 roadster

hello question- still trying to remove cowl- attached picture--the bracket at the edge of the cowl at its foot plate on the sub rail [pardon any my naming of parts, they may be wrong] -i've chalked a square are where there is a very cllose and tight adshesion- it is too big an area and the 2 metals are too thick for a modern tack weld- there is no weld bead around edges like in stick weld or mig weld.

ques #1 could this be an oxyfuel weld/ oxyacetylene ? if that was the method used in 1930.

ques #2 since i want to remove cowl and bracket, could i break the weld by using oxy/acetylene?

ques#3 it could be a oxy fuel bronze weld- if so, i know i could break the weld with oxy/acetylene -was brazing done in 1930

Question 1: That was an electric arc weld originally.

Question 2: Yes, you could break the weld using an Oxy/Acetylene using however you risk inducing heat into other areas. A small die grinder with an abrasive cut-off wheel is a better choice IMO.

Question 3: Yes, brazing was an acceptable practice back in that era. Ford even brazed many areas on a Model-T engine pan. Today that weld is likely best duplicated using a MIG welder.

thanks great info as always from elizabethton

i ended up cutting it with hacksaw--had to slip blade between door and brace and did not want to go deep into subrail ---when i got very close to subrail i fractured remnant with chisel------------impossible to get cowel off without cutting the weld
