Is this an 'A'?
Found this pic on the 'net... Looks like an 'A', but that bed looks a bit odd. License plate too. Russian model?

Re: Is this an 'A'?
It looks like a deluxe pickup. According to "The Ford Model A As Henry Built It" they made 293 units in 1931. They also made a deluxe AA version. The radiator shell on the one in your picture looks like AA but the rest looks like a standard pickup. It is amazing one of these found their way to a foreign country.
The 1931 Deluxe pickup was designated Model 66A and a picture of it is here: http://www.mafca.com/photos/bodystyl...kup-deluxe.jpg Of course it could be something unique to production in a foreign country. This deluxe pickup was also produced in 1932. Charlie Stephens Last edited by Charlie Stephens; 11-11-2018 at 12:20 AM. |

Re: Is this an 'A'?
This is a Russian built GAZ . It is not known how many were built. Several have come up for sale in Scandinavia/Eastern Europe in the last few years . It does seem odd that the USSR would build such a de luxe vehicle . The vast majority of Russian production were GAZ AA trucks .

Re: Is this an 'A'?
In my opinion, the bed on the Deluxe Pickup has less metal, fewer parts and was less expensive to manufacture than a the standard pickup bed.

The tires look larger than what we know as normal.

This very conversation is happening on the MARC facebook group.
Not an A. It's a GAZ.

Re: Is this an 'A'?
I agree with Charley in post #2 . It appears to me that it is the 1931 deluxe pickup

Re: Is this an 'A'?
This may be a '31 with some '30 parts, perhaps the side run. bd. aprons in the photo, and because foreign made products were supposedly a year behind with parts and some features..

Re: Is this an 'A'?
Look at the radiator shell. Straight across the top like an AA truck, rather than the widow's peak. Is that a Russian license plate? No plating on the bumpers or bed rails, like a US made deluxe pickup would have. But stainless radiator shell and headlight rims. I'm thinking it's some sort of Russian copy made after Henry sold Russia the Model A dies. BTW, and never was paid.

Re: Is this an 'A'?
There was an article in the AACA magazine sometime in the last year that had a truck just like or at least VERY similar to that one. I remember it saying it was very limited production. It was in the US.

Re: Is this an 'A'?
At one time the city of Kansas City Missouri had a BB just like these trucks with the exception that it had truck wheels and duals on the back it had to be 4-cylinder motor with fuel pump and a tank under the seat the reason I know all this was it I rebuild it from the frame up it was on display in the different fire stations 4 years and was recently sold to a man in the greater Kansas City area I drove it as a service vehicle in the American Royal Parade in Kansas City
