Default Can '30-'31 Wiper Be Installed on '29 Roadster

Most 29 Roadsters one sees either have no windshield wiper or have the hand wiper and I don't know if the repro hand wipers are faithful reproductions.

Can a vacuum wiper from the later models be installed on the earlier models?
The '29 stanchion is of course hollow but where does the vacuum line on '30-'31 locate along the firewall?

Page 247 of the Service Bulletins shows the installation of electric wiper on
1928 open cars.

Here is the way I ran mine on my '31 RDPU. Probably doesn't match the judging standards (which you might want to check).

How much rain are you going to be driving in? The hand wiper worked fine when your car was new.

Rainx and a hand wiper. From what I have heard on oldies radio:

Seems it never rains in southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before
It never rains in California, but girl, don't they warn ya?
It pours, man, it pours

So it's a non-issue, right?

Sorry, Chap

I hit a downpour in my A on the 405 freeway in L.A. at 2:30 A.M. and my vacuum wiper went one way when you pulled the knob and back when it was pushed back in, basically a hand wiper.

I've sure been caught in unexpected rain driving in my Tudor

But I agree, the odds are against it, moreover, by the time I got the side curtains on, the sun would be back out. I simply felt the car would look more complete with some kind of wiper.

The hand operated ones look nice and work well.

The spring loaded switching mechanism wasn't flipping side to side like it should, thus sending vacuum from one side of the paddle to the other side. Remove the small switch cover, and it may just need some lubrication.

Thank you Tom that was in 1968. I have since replaced my slow wiper. I still drive my A though.
