Default tubular link grease seal orientation

The grease seals have rubber inside a thin metal cover that goes over the balls. I did not see in the mechanics book I bought, which way is up.

I assume you put the metal ring over the ball then try to push the rubber over the ball and then put them together before trying to put on the link.

So the seals have the hole close to one thin edge, Which way does it go? I was thinking the thin edge down?

thanks

You are correct, the rubber goes on easy with a bit of grease. look at the link and you will see how the seal goes.
