No big deal. I was surprised nobody else caught it. I learned to drive on a slightly bigger version. This 46 Ford three ton truck. It was more tractor-like than car but in those days even 30 mph was pretty exciting.

'38 Coupe just getting woken up from a 51 year sleep. 56K orig on the car. It's a 60hp.

One comment. After getting this and looking through the catalogs etc, the '38's are definitely orphans. Well, this one's getting some love.

Radiator's in Reno getting rebuilt. Seat will get some fresh black canvas duck, and the Henry paint will get rubbed as best it can be. Other'n that, it's done.

I like the roof line. Does it have a back seat or a package tray?

Package tray and enough room to camp in the trunk, or haul bootleg liquor if the need arises. Hate to try to get away from the cops with a V8-60 though.

Wow, what a find. I've always liked the looks of 38's. But you are right, they are a bit of an orphan.

I need a 32 but my wife says if I drag another old car home I could sleep in the shed with it. Well it looks like I am going to sleep in the shed. I have sleep in worse places. The trouble winter coming on and there no heat in that shed. One thing around here don't say any thing about a 32. Her eyes turn red and I mean real red then I get a look that could kill a dog. That not going to stop me so we will see who boss around here. Better go now before she reads this.

Not exactly a Ford, but mostly Ford parts. A 1948 Allard drop head coupe with stock 21 stud ('37 style) flathead. During my search for a '35 Ford I fell in love with this car and I could afford it even though only about 800 were made.

Nice one. Its always interesting to see different vehicles where the Ford flathead was used. I recall searching a junkyard back in the early seventies and seeing a little red two door car, might have been a convertible. Guessing it was early sixties, late fifties vintage. Under the hood was a flathead V8! No idea what the car was .

Man, look at that right-hand drive, column-shift mechanism......I'll bet that's fun to adjust initially. Fan drive from the top is noteable, too. DD

The electricals I see on the firewall sure looks like the occasionally reliable Lucas system. But then I could be mistaken.

This beautiful 1936 Ford Roadster belongs to Ken Bounds. Because of mechanical difficulties, me and Grant Fleming were not able to get our cars to the 2014 EFV-8 Central National Meet at Springfield. Ken let us borrow his car so Grant and I could participate in the Route 66 Tour. Thanks Ken.

Here are photos of my family's 1940 Fords, and Dad's 1953 Mercury Monterey. I bought the 1940 Coupe back in 1974 for $225.00; it was a worn out modified car that I did not complete until 1989. I bought the 1940 Tudor in 1992 as a half finished street rod, finished it in 1994, and sold it to dad in 1996. Both of the 1940 photos were taken at Martin's Beach in Half Moon Bay CA. Dad bought the 1953 Mercury Monterey back in 1978 with just 83K original miles on it. He is the forth owner (Originally ordered by a woman in Berkeley CA; it then sold to two more Early Ford V8 Club members before dad bought it.) It is the only one of it's kind that we have seen with factory power steering, power brakes, power windows, four-way power front seat, rear package shelf speaker, deluxe steering wheel, windshield washer, and the Merc-O-Matic transmission. Over the years dad and I worked on it together. All of the mechanicals have been rebuilt, and all of the exterior chrome has been redone. The exterior has been repainted once, but the interior is 100% original. I took the photos in my parent's driveway the day it had to be backed out in order to replace their water heater.

Saw this beautiful 1935 Ford Roadster on the street in Oakhurst, California, in 2005. Helped to inspire me back into the old car hobby.

Just realized I have not posted a pic of the 52 Merc in this thread. So here it is as of last November. Still not running. I have spark at the points but not at the plugs. It has been too cold to do much on it lately.

Love the Green Color on your '52 F1 pickup. Is that a stock Ford color? If not, what the heck is it?

Thanks Tony. Every car in here took a TON of work and I applaud them all. I think most of the cars here were done by their owners and not done via a checkbook. I know I can't afford to pay someone to work on my cars.

Thanks for the picture. It looks like my first car, gray '37 fordor deluxe with sealed beam headlights. It didn't have whitewalls though. I paid $175 for the car in 1950 and took my driving test in it on my 16th birthday. This was a lot of money back then as there was still a car shortage. I paid for it with money I saved during and after the war from vegetables I sold from our garden.

Thanks for sharing. I've always loved 1940 Station Wagons!
Yours reminded me a bit of one I built back in 1982... I had to make all of the wood too, but mine only took a year to complete. It never won a Dearborn, but it take a first place in the "Stock" class, at a model show held by the Goodguys at their Western Nationals. I like yours better!

Here are a couple of photos that I haven't shown before. The B/W is dated July 1957, the month I bought the truck and my favourite date, Barbara, then and now sits on the hood. Also the only covered bridge left in Ontario.
Cheers, Byron.

Nice looking 46 and a familiar sight. I learned to drive on one of those. Still got the sheet metal but the rest of the truck is now a wagon.

Thank you! Sorry to hear that truck is now a wagon. I really get a kick out of the "big trucks"

That's really great when you have some "history" with with an old car. Kinda makes them extra special.
