I use pipe dope. Plain bar soap stops gasoline leaks also.

Small amount of perma-tex 2 non hardening cleans up with isopopryl alcohol.

Hylomar Blue. Keep it off the first thread. Still perfect after 10 years of E10 in my 160B.

I must be doing something wrong! I don't use any type of sealant on my late '31 roadster's gas valve or gas lines. And I don't have any leaks.....

I use a product called fuel lube. It work to seal threaded joints in fuel systems and also lubricate fuel valves and petcocks. It is quite common in the aviation world.

Permatex thread seal;(not a recommendation where to buy, can be gotten at most parts houses)

I just removed a fitting from the bottom of gas tank that I installed 10 years ago with non-hardening Aviation Permatex. The fitting is submerged in auto fuel and alternatively Avgas. The Permatex was still pliable and I never had another leak around the threads.

Nothing is needed. The ferrule seals against the tapered part in the valve. Same as on the carb. Never used any sealer in 37 years of working on Model A Fords.

I may have misinterpreted the question, Steve, but I think he is asking about the tapered thread part of the valve that screws into the gas tank on the indented firewall. I like to use a little non-hardening sealer there.

You are correct, no sealer needed on the tubing ferrules.
