1930 victoria coupe

Good day gents. I have opertunity to purchase one of these . 190A I think is the body number. its far from me and I cant inspect it personally. my main question for you fellas is, is it a wood frame car, or is the body a steel body without much wood in it? being new to the A world I'm not sure, I think its amordern style steel body, without much wood. just sorta wondering ho much work I'm getting myself into


anything different and super rare hard to find on them that I should be making sure is there, that's not easy to find?

the main frame of the body is wood. the leather back has a little more wood then the steel back. the doors are all metal but one stripe of wood that the molding screws into. if the wood is good you might be all right, if the wood is bad take it from me it is a lot of work.

This is a 31 Steelback. I think the Leatherback has two more pieces of wood behind the rear seat. Art

There were no Victoria's made in 1930. The Victoria is a two door sedan, not a coupe.

The Ford Model A As Henry Built It shows 6306 were built from November 1930 to January 1931.

I looked in the back of the parts book where is lists body types and
it does show 190-A Victoria Coupe 1930-31.

All 190A Victoria Coupes have features that became the standard look for 1931 Model A's. Most obvious of these features is the radiator shell having an upper painted panel. The slant-windshield and the slanted rear spare wheel first appeared on the 190A.



The differences between the 190A and the Tudor body structures are so huge, for practical purposes I would say there are none. Lets see. The instrument panel and dash light are the same. Both body styles have 2 doors. Hmm! That's about it for commonality.

Not many A's are steel framed, mostly wood.

I'd have to look at production numbers per body style but I believe more were steel subrails than wood. However all A's contained substantial wood; mostly in the top areas and for tacking.
Coupes, tudors, roadsters, fordor phaetons, trucks were all steel subrails, all years
I think those were the lion's-share of production #'s
Except for fordors, most of the wooden frame and heavily wooded body styles were low production

Advice to anyone posting their opions, better do your research on your comments, there are many guys with a boat load of knowledge about the Model A, and they have no problem correcting your post.

I got my first Model A, A 1931 Sport Coupe, at the age of 16. Today I am 73 and I have owned a Model every day of my life since 1961. This is the first time I have heard of a Victoria Coupe. Ya learn something new every day. :-)

To answer the second part of the original poster’s question. The rear valance, the interior window moldings, interior visor brackets, metal floorpan, seat frames, are difficult to find Victoria parts. The visor brackets are being reproduced in stainless steel, should be nickle plated. Art

Hey, I got my first Model A in 1961 to. it also was a 1931 Sport Coupe. I am now just 72, this month.

Have now had our 1929 Sport Coupe for over 40 years.

I still have my 1st Model A, a 1931 45B Coupe. I have owned it since 1962, so that's 56 years I have been driving it. By the way, I am 76 years young!
