Default 35 intake manifold

I have a 37 block in my stock 35 coupe. have the 35 heads and other 35 parts. What is the proper intake manifold for a 35 ford. I have intakes that have generator bracket 3 inches-4 inches and 5 inches high. I am sure 5 inch would be too high. They are all aluminum. Also the car will never be driven in cold weather, could the exhaust holes below the carb. be plugged

34,35 and 36 take the high one.The low one is '37 and later and those engines had the w/pumps in the block. See pic.Maybe Pete Hovie can enlarge it.

If you have water pumps in the heads, block off plates covering the original 37 wp holes, 35 lower engine mounts/water inlets, and plan to use your original generator with fan mount, you can use either an original 35 or 36 intake manifold for the correct height. We recently put that exact combination in a friend's, and also a member here, stock 35 deluxe fordor touring sedan. I'll post some pictures of this going together, or try to find the post we made on this previously with those pictures included.

PS, he recently drove his car over 2000 miles to the EFV8 C/A Central Nat. Meet in Auburn Indiana and back to DC, so we can assure you that all works well

'34 , '35 and very early '36 had intakes that were quite smooth in appearance, the
runners did not stand out at all. A little way into '36 the intake design changed
radically and the runners stood out, shall I say. All passengers were alum most trucks were iron. Heat risers did tend to burn thru . JM '35 or Very Tangled could fill in some blanks I'm sure.

There are at least two intakes for 35 below are pictures of both. The early style, was used for a couple of months, it has the smooth edges on the sides where it bolts to the engine bolck. as well as a round hole under the fuel pump stand.
The later style was used for most of the year note the high mounting for the generator and the sharp angle where the riser for the carburetor comes down to meet the intake runners.

The so-called "light" (Ford's nomenclature) type of manifold with the scalloped edges dates back into 1934 when it was released for production late in the '34 model year. It came from a different supplier than that of the "heavy" aluminum manifold most commonly seen on '34 and early 35s. Both carry 40-prefix part numbers usually cast into the underside of the manifold with B, B1 (once the light version was released), and B2 part number suffixes.

The early "Smoth" intakes were sometimes referred to as "Camel backs" an were modified to run on stock cars. I have one that was hollowed out and bored for the 2GC carb. When the rules say "Look stock", you have to get creative.
