The knife and scissor shop would be Ol' Dutch and his blacksmith shop in the low building hidden in the weeds immediately to the right (east) of the Ford. The shop's forge chimney is visible on Google Street View.

The building behind the Ford is the Valenta Brothers garage, auto repair, pool hall and beer joint. The canopy over the gas pump collapsed many years back. My last purchase at Valenta's was one gallon of "white gas" used to start the hand-cranked John Deere - just under a dime a gallon (1952).

Back in the summer of '49 I watched Ol' Dutch put the finishing touches on a one-piece throwing knife. "See that knothole - watch this, boy". THWANGGGG! He missed by about three inches but I could see many previous hits inside the knothole.

"Don't tell E. C. I gave you this or he'll never pay his arrears with me".

Well, the knife is gone as is my great-uncle Edward Carroll Walraven, both Valenta boys and Ol' Dutch.

The good news is the hamburger at the Crossroads Café is still alive.

Here is my 32 Cabriolet - in front of an old building in Pittsburgh . . . and under the railroad tracks. This is in the 'as-found' condition - before the new upholstery, completion of the metal/bodywork and the new engine . . .

Had a friend years ago who had a TC as a daily driver. It was fitted with a trailer hitch to pull his sailboat. Rode in it many times. It finally broke the crank one day at the front rod throw. Boy did it rattle! If you followed the sailboat, you couldn't see the TC.

I took these photos at this local apartment building that appropriately enough was built the same year as my truck, 1932. I also like the name of the apartment building.

Here is my 37 in front of a gas station front in Commerce Oklahoma, Route 66. This station is not original but looks cool. There is an original Marathon station across the street that is still open as an ice cream joint.
