Default Model A engine stand adapter

The Model A engine stand adapter for what Bratton's calls adapter to modern engine stand.I was thinking about ordering one of those but I see one limitation is the mounting on a couple bolts goes to oil pan rail bolts. So that eliminates putting the oil pan and gaskets back on while turned over for the stand let alone the bolts are what 5/16".I really do not have any issues with the engine aside from the rope seals leaking and detailing the engine.I do have one thing that bothers me is the engine to bellhousing adapter is cracked at the bottom and I do not believe the gasket from engine to this is in place. I did want to remove everything and check out the clutch and go over the trans. Can all of this transmission and bellhousing and the engine adapter be worked on from the back up leaving engine in place.

You can build your own adapter for much less $$. You can install the pan sans the two adapter bolts. Install them later.

The side adaptor is the way to go. As Daren said, I can put the engine together except for 2 pan bolts. I can also then turn the front of the engine down, install the flywheel cover and dial it in.

The bolts you are referring to go in the top of the rail and like Tom said you can do everything except install 2 pan bolts.

Okay that makes sense ,so most of the holding power is the bigger water inlet bolts.

Yes the water inlet bolts hold the lions share. Very nice tool to have.

The two lower bolts on the adapter do have to be screwed in any time the engine is on the adapter. The two pan bolts are installed after the engine is on the hook of the engine hoist or in the car.
