Default Clutch- pressure plate removal

I was getting ready to pull the clutch assembly and fly wheel. but looking at my mechanics handbook it states if the flywheel and pressure were balanced together, an alignment mark was made on the edge of flywheel and the pressure plate bolt flange. Now my question. If not should I mark all components before I remove in case I reuse the assembly.

A little paint or permanent marker on the clutch assembly and flywheel will do just fine. If you remove the flywheel, mark the position where it is located on the crankshaft.

I wouldn't bother. You may well be marking the parts in the worse possible balance relationship.

If you want to know whether the parts are in balance, take them to a balance shop before you re-assemble. Let them make the marks.

I have my guy balance the crank and flywheel separately, then check them together, then add the pressure plate and balance it as necessary. Costs a little extra, but not much.

If you can't find anyone you trust in your area, call Butch at B&B Balancing in Reno at 775-972-4816. He is very particular.

thanks Joe I match marked the pressure plate and then found that some of the bolts were finger tight. part of the of the edge of pressure plate was flush with the recess and some places above. Flywheel is match marked on top of one dowel pin and on flywheel next to it. the whole assembly needs resurfacing and relining so Ill have it rebalanced as a unit.
