At last....39 truck box

Pictured truck before and featured Northern Classic Trucks box assembly now. Sub structure with sides on by starter screws, pre-drill and chase holes and rivets, then front panel install. Finally the assembled box assembly set back on the frame. Will set up and check deck boards and strip layout tomorrow.

Have some adjustments and some areas to trim to get the box assembly to sit properly on the frame as it had spread outward in the axle rise area when someone had welded the homemade rear cross member in (3rd pic).

Get the fenders on her and were almost looking like a truck again. Will post updated pics after the box assembly comes back from paint. Again thanks to Northern Classic Trucks. Scott

Trimmed and adjusted the truck box assembly and fits in like a glove. Set the pictured wood adapter kit and deck boards w/strips today. Now a little finish sanding and staining.

Thanks Walt, were I did not have an original steel bed to begin with this was a lot of work to get it to fit with what my truck had to start with. Will get up to see you after the first week of June.

Northern Classic was great with all the questions I had and this was a fun project from start to finish. Scott

I respect how you build. Hope I can ask about deciding to go with a wood floor over a metal floor?

Problems of doing so or cosmetic reasons?

I have a northern classic frame, rivet kit, and front panel. All seem to me spot on.

Also if you consider an overview post on riveting the structure together that would be nice.

Of course pms or emails work too.

Thanks for the comments guys, the wood kit there was what they offered and I like the look in other trucks. Not sure if that original metal bed floor covering is available.

As far as the rivets, the pictured side panels show the holes I drilled to match up with the sub-frame. I used a short sledge hammer on the outside to hold the larger flat head rivets against the panel and just hammered the rivet ends flat from the inside.

The front panel is another story, I have mine held in with screws and have ordered a rivet setting tool for use with an air hammer. The smaller round head rivets for the front are too close to that front panel to swing a hammer and with a guy supporting those rivets on the outside and a rivet tool on the inside will work. Hope this helps Tinker.
