Default VIN locations on '41

Are there any locations other than the firewall that will have a VIN? My tudor had damage that destroyed the tag and it no longer can be read. She's finally ready to roll, just waiting for the Diamondbacks to arrive! Yahoo!!

Firewall plate is just a list of patents. Actual serial number: The original/main one is at top of transmission bell housing IF transmission is original. There is bend-up tab on a slot on toeboard to see it if it's like a '48.
Acessible copy is on left front frame rail forward of steering.
A V-8 number will be like *18-######*

The good news is, as previously posted, that the tag on the firewall was not the VIN. The VIN (actually the serial number) can be found hree places on the top of the left frame rail. This site will tell you more than you ever wanted to know: http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/f...ialnumbers.htm. Go to the bottom of the page for the location information.

Well, the frame rail didn't have any vin so it must be under the body. But,there is a tab on the floorboard that I pulled up and with a bit of scrubbing found the vin on the clutch housing. Thanks to all for your help.

Vin #'s can be along the left frame rail. You may have to clean the top to bare metal. Here is where I found mine at the crossmember.
