Every time I need a item there out of stock.
Would be nice if he carried a stock of items.

You should get into the business and fill the void!

Not me. I just go to other distributors who carry the parts.
Maybe he should fill his own void by stocking parts.
I’m just addressing my experience with a Bob Drake and
I’m sure other people agree.

Agree! It's amazing when an outfit becomes legendary NOT for the parts it USED to be famous for, but for NOT having it's own 'bread & butter' products in stock. DD

Bob Drake has served the old Ford parts sales well over the years.

The antique parts business has got to one of the toughest businesses
to run. He has been a great supplier and manufacturer of old Ford
parts.

In his business, he has to rely on many other manufactures to supply
old Ford parts...NOT an easy task to do.

I appreciate all Bob Drake has done for the old Ford restoration hobby.
Damn hard to be perfect in his business. We ALL Should appreciate him

I understand, I myself have bought many parts from Bob Drake And I’m sure he has been helping lots of people in the past. I’m not taking that from him but to be honest I stoped looking at his website. Every time I want to make a purchase he’s out of stock on some products. I would like to support his business but he makes it difficult to do. In fact in the past when he was out of stock on an item they were nice enough to tell me what supplier might carry it. He has free shipping on orders over $150.00 but I just can’t make that minimum if he’s out of stock on the items I need. Maybe it’s my year car that he has a problem stocking parts.

I bought a 57-58 Ford pass car fuel tank, and 48-50 Pickup grille trim for 50% off and free shipping this morning. I am a Drake dealer and cannot even get that kind of a deal. Seems like everytime Drake offers a smoking good deal to retail customers, he gets bashed. Kind of sad.

There no bashing here.
No criticism, just the facts as I see it. You can’t tell me that he doesn’t have
Products out of stock. I agree it’s tough business. Yes he has good deals.
I’m sure he has helped lots of people . I myself has bought products from him.
I deal is a deal if your able to get one. No deal for me if his out of stock on items.
As far as bashing, who’s bashing who? Who’s criticizing who here?

I agree 40cpe and V8COOPMAN.
No bashing no criticism here. They are facts and experiences
Others have had. There are other posts that others feel the same way. Others are going to disagree and that’s fine but
Don’t bring in that I should open the business to fill the void or I should
Get into the limited parts business and that I have the manufacturing
Capabilities to succeed. Some people take a conversation to the next level.
No need to do that. Voice your opinion but keep it clean.

Deleted a couple of name calling posts... Fellas... remember, we don't do that here. Simple manners and what not.

Opinions are totally cool.

Thanks Ryan... it seems that every time the word "Drake" comes up here it turns into the same old discussion. I've got a LOT of Drake parts in my '40 and yes, I've had to wait to get some of them. Had the same issue with Carpenter a few times...

40ford....getting back to the original intent of your post....thank you for letting us know that Bob Drake is offering this free shipping deal.
I used to get emails from him on sales, new products, etc., but apparently I'm no longer getting those. Maybe it's a good time to place an order and get back on his list

Gentlemen, we all must realize the fact that there are very few people nowaday's restoring early Ford's. If Drake happens to run out of a particular part, he needs to purchase a minimum quantity of that part, to restock his shelve's. If it's a slow moving item, that can be problematic, as stock sitting on a shelf cost's money. Bob is a business man and knows that if he needs to reorder a minimum of say 100 hubcaps and sells one a year it's just not cost effective. I'm sure he is doing his best considering this economy.

A very intelligent summation. What you say makes good sense.
