not thrilled with folks that do that either...it is just wrong to lie. Little ones make big ones.
But - but. Barnstuf is my FRIEND. Well, it started as a business relationship but he and I have talked Model A many times. And I trust him.

True about lies. But it is possible it is not lie.

Our Creator will decide in the end - meanwhile...

Joel, I agree about the lie issue. The reason(s) I did it was to make sure the seller got gross price (they demanded that). So the add-on was expected. I was surprised when it seemed some were going "free" thru that system.

Would it help if they threw in a free toaster?

I miss the good old days when banks paid 4 or 5% and gave out free toasters.

Why do banks even bother with .0001% or whatever the ridiculous amount is?

I love PayPal, one of my other hobbies is watch collecting, I have over 700 transactions on eBay, 95% watches, and probably another 100 plus on watch forums, I bought and sold watches from $100 to $10,000 with every transaction going through PayPal with never an issue and I do not use "gift" or "Friends and Family" unless I'm dealing directly with a friend.

I would expect to pay the 3% fee and on anything I sell just as if I was taking a credit card payment and had to pay their fee, yes PP's fee is a little higher but you get much more protection then a straight CC transaction.

I'm guessing that the reason they are holding the $1,000 for 30 days is you are not a verified account, after a certain number of transactions that will not happen.....I get 4 figure payments all the time, immediately transfer to my credit union checking account and the money is deposited within 4 or 5 hours

I have been using Pay Pal on a daily basis for over a decade. No complaints.

I too will keep using it. It's fast, convenient and crosses boarders.

I've been using EBay and PayPal for almost 20 years with no problems. Sometimes I wish it wasn't that easy.

I use paypal all the time. Only time I ever had a problem was when a seller gave me the wrong email address. My payment went to someone else and i had to pay a fee to get it back.
Other than that, it is a great tool which is very useful when you are purchasing a lot of parts from the other side of the world. A lot easier than goin to the bank.
Fees are a way of life in this ' futuristic' world we live in unfortunately...

I've never had a problem with PayPal either and have been using it virtually since it became available many years ago. I've never missed one bit all the previous special trips made to cash or mail cheques, buy and mail or cash money orders, etc, etc.. Pretty tough for them to stay in business without charging something, and if the 3% they charge is too much to bear, simply tack 3% on to your prices.

Before Pay Pal as a seller I would have to wait most times for a week or more for payment to arrive then wait for the check to clear before sending the item out. Now when the auction ends , the payment it sometimes immediate or the next day and it is avaiable th transfer to my bank . I do have the occasional buyer that might take more time. As a buyer i always leave some cash in my account so when i see a item of interest I can complete the purchase quickly. Pay Pal can be your friend if you can get past the fees. Norm

The same can happen if you accept credit cards for payment.

Twice I have been "stiffed" by vendors that accepted my credit card for payment. I notified my credit card company, and they did their research and debited the vendor's account and credited mine.

There are horror stories out there about every type of transaction possible (bogus checks, bogus money orders, counterfeit money, etc)...some of them are actually true. The safest course is to never buy or sell anything.

PayPal is great if you understand what it protects you from. There is generally a 'premium' added for anything in life that creates a convenience. PayPal is very clear on how they operate and what their policies are, ...and it is plainly written in their terms & agreement section. Folks generally are supposed to check they have read the Terms & Agreements before they can proceed with an account, so is there really any valid reason to complain about how they operate? If someone does not want their money tied up, then there are other ways to transfer funds.

Something to always remember is FRAUD is rampant everywhere. I would venture a guess the reason why PayPal has their "hold on releasing funds" policy is because in the past they have likely been burned where they are unwilling to take a chance any longer.

PayPal is an absolute god send for someone who doesn't have access to parts like you lucky folks in the US. It would have been extremely difficult (if not impossible) for me to have built my pickup without it. I bought lots of parts from the US using PayPal, and even sold some rare Model A speed parts back to the US using PayPal.
