Default Rumble seat or trunk lid which do you prefer?

Do you prefer the rumble seat or a regular trunk lid? Any reasons why? thanks for the input.

I haven't owned either one, but I think I would prefer a trunk for the utility.

It has to be the Rumble Seat. I'm in the front along with my 2 year old son in his car seat, where else is my wife going to sit, so yes, the rumble seat is my choice

Believe it or not, I can fit a TON of stuff in the rumble seat, even with my wife sitting back there. I have my tool box, fire extinguiser, hydrolic jack, my 12v battery for our CB, jug of water, and when we goto car shows we have our foldable chairs back there with a mini cooler, again all with my wife sitting back there lol

It seems like you don't see many trunks lids anymore. A rumble seat is definately more popular. I agree with JoeWay. I prefer a trunk for the utility.

Trunk. Lots of room to carry tools, spare parts, groceries, horse feed, etc. Also, I worry about the safety of passengers in a rumble seat.

I'm very fortunate to also have a '29 Tudor Sedan, so if we need to take friends, we use the Tudor.

I have a rumble seat.

What I'd rather have is a four door body and a trunk on the back.

Then it's not a decision between passengers and stuff.

I have both and both are great. For me and my wife, I prefer the trunk. I can put a ton of stuff back there .

But when I show my friends or family, I like to take the car with the rumble seat. They all like seeing how you get in and out of it, and riding in the back because no one has ever done that in our generation.

I however can easily take the rumble seat cushions out and then it's just a backwards trunk. you can drive with the rumble lid open and put much taller objects back in the back.

I think it depends on what your objective is. If you need to carry more people then a rumble seat is necessary on those occasions. Yes, you can pack things in a rumble seat but its not comfortable for the passenger. A trunk does provide more utility and more importantly, your not reaching over the rear fenders and body to put things in a trunk. I've had both, like I said depends on your needs or wants. LouB.

I have a Rumble Seat on my coupe, good for parades and Grandkids ride in the back but next car will be a 2 or 4 door sedan ,in order to carry more people and visit, and its hard to talk to 'em when they are in the rumble seat .

I have a 29 roadster hot rod, people on the street always ask if I have a rumble seat. I converted mine to a trunk.
Rumble seats are only a novelty today, when they used to be a necessity back then.

If you have a big family, and like to take leisurely drives, maybe a rumble seat is for you.

Matt -

We will keep our stock '30 Dlx. Cpe. a trunk model - just as ordered by the original (single woman) owner 80 years ago. You get to know your girl even better and you make numerous friends hauling items fo the sedan guys............

Hail to all our Vets and thank you for your service this Memorial Day weekend.

Be well - Shelby

I like my trunk. I see lot's of rumble seats but not as many trunks. I like having the storage space.

Dad's 1931 Roadster has a rumble, but my '30 Roadster will have a trunk. I just think the trunk is racy, and rare, I never see them around here. Best wishes to all our Veterans this weekend, thank you for all you've done.

Trunk.

You can use it, and in the normal way. The rumble is a trunk full of furniture.

I hear so many guys saying they can take the grandkids for rides etc, but once the car is done, it never (or hardly ever) happens and they still end up with a trunk full of furniture with a lid that flips in a less than conenient way when you do want to put some small stuff in it.

I have both a Coupe with a trunk and a Cabriolet with a rumble seat. Cabriolets came only with a rumble seat and my black standard coupe would seem improper except with a trunk. It is much more convenient to haul "stuff" in the trunk than in the rumble seat. The rumble seat gives you more passenger room. Just on principle I never remove the cushions to get space. With the cushions in place we did carry enough luggage for a trip of over a month, so space is not all that limited with a rumble seat it's just not as easy to access.
