Glass patterns 30 Ford coupe
Could anyone help me locate 1930/31 Ford Coupe glass patterns. When I got this car there was no glass and all the wood was unsalvageable. Please help.

Re: Glass patterns 30 Ford coupe
Fred, welcome to Fordbarn. Drawings for the glass is available at the Archives, -which would be more expensive to buy copies of all the prints. The larger parts vendors carry glass at affordable prices or you can use cardboard or luan to make your patterns. The same applies for the wood. If you do not have an accurate set of prints or samples to fabricate your wood from, then you have a good chance of not getting it correct which can/will affect strength of the body when you are driving and commercially available upholstery panels will not fit.

Re: Glass patterns 30 Ford coupe
Where are you? I have a 30 coupe and the glass is out except the door glass. Pretty sure it is original glass since it is Plate glass and not safety glass. When I say the glass is out I mean not installed so should be good for patterns.

I have emailed Bert's regarding patterns telling him that I still need them. Please hold off checking the attic until I here back from Bert's.

Re: Glass patterns 30 Ford coupe
Hello Fred, there is a company called Vintage Glass USA in Connecticut who has most of the patterns. He bought out a glass business years ago and made new safety glass windows part time. Now I think he does it full time. Of course he uses his patterns to sell glass but he may sell patterns, I don't know. You can call him at 860 872-0018. I have had several pieces made for my Fords, he does good work. Good luck, Ed

Re: Glass patterns 30 Ford coupe
I got tempered glass from Bert’s for my Canadian 30 A Coupe doors recently. They fit perfectly!

Many thanks. Fred[/QU I checked down in my basement tody Fred and will check my shops tomorrow just in case Berts doesn't come through. I have things stored 3 different places. I have over 1700 sq ft of shop space in two different buildings plus my basement and I removed the windows a long time ago and put them where they would not get broken. I will look tomorrow just in case you still need them but won't go to the attic LOL (Don't really think they are up there anyway.) I had my own collision repair shop for 40 years. With a small shop ond the only person working in it things get put off and moved. |

Re: Glass patterns 30 Ford coupe
Fred I looked in both shop buildings today, and cam up empty handed, sorry. I didn't climb a ladder to check my old Body Shop to see if they are up there. I do have things for my cars up there. But all is not lost maybe, I talked to a friend tonight at the curise - in and he said he thought he might still have some old windows that are good for patterns and if you still need them just contact me and I will get with him. Next time my son is here I will see if he will get up in the attic and look for my glass iup there, gonna have to find them one day anyway. I would have been more than happy to make and send the patterns to you. I will probable start back on our 46 Super Deluxe Coupe next week. We will move it for one building to the body shop next weekend depending on weather. It's in bare metal so can't get it out if it is raining.

Re: Glass patterns 30 Ford coupe
Thanks go out to everyone who replied to my call for help regarding glass patterns for my 30 Ford coupe. Especially Marvin/TN who searched for his patterns to send and SteveB31 at Bert's Model A Center who sent me a set of tracings. I will be seeing my glass man this week.
Thanks again Fred |
