That's right. NO Model As in 1931 after Ford sent a shipment in 1930 with no orders. The depression was so bad here that car sales virtually stopped in September, 1929. It is thought that to keep up production in the US and Canada, he sent cars that were not ordered. The dealers revolted and he didn't do it again, hence no cars in 1931. It was possible to buy a brand new Model A here as late as 1933 or 4.
In an effort to drum up sales, 3 cars were built here with fabric bodies, I believe. Even they didn't sell. I've never seen it but I understand one survives. Those 3 cars would be my nomination for the rearest Model A.

You seem to make a valid point however Ford recognized this as the last produced Model-A, -and even MAFFI displayed it at the museum describing it as such. As such, I would say that it does kinda fit into the question that Bob asked, but maybe not?

Huh? No one said there are no cars in Australia. A couple of us said that none were sent here in 1931. That's a whole, very different thing.

Total production of the Australian 1930 AND 1931 Roadster Utility was 87 units. This body style went on sale in May of 1930 and the last unit sold to a Ford dealer was in August of 1932. That equates to 3.22 units sold per month - hardly worth opening the factory at that rate.

Dave, what was the mindset behind the Ute, -or the Utility bodystyle? Was there an advantage for producing that vehicle, -or was it solely because of the styling?

I see your point, however it really was NOT "re-bodied" as it was stamped by Ford with their own dies for Allegany Steel, and the stainless body was the only body that was ever mounted onto the chassis' that were used? In some ways, it really was not any different than B/R or Murray manufacturing the 150 wagons or all the postal Model-As


...and the 2nd part of this was, didn't they make three of the Allegany Stainless Tudors? If so, that would mean there were two more produced than the Sportsman.

The LEAST number of model A models???.......I would say the crew cab 4X4 pickup. They didn't make any.
