If the fenders are bad, take them off and run it as a highboy

Until your brakes, steering, hubs, wheels, tyres and other related items are all up to original factory tolerances, curb your enthusiasm and live another day. It is an 85 year old vehicle, treat it as such.

If the cab and the bed are reasonably sound you are at a good starting point. See if there is a local club nearby you can hook up with. that group can help you with knowledge, parts, local swaps, and when you dive in over your head they can pull you back to shore.

Turning a Model A, despite it's condition into a "rat rod" IS an incurable mental disease.
Please reconsider the rat rod angle and bring it back as a fun to drive Model A, you'll like it much better...trust me on this...rat rods are a crime against nature.

Rat Rods seem to be a way for the owner to express his SENSE OF HUMOR & are mostly built from parts that are unsuitable for HIGH POINTS cars.
The name, Rat Rod, was coined from an article in Hot Rod Magazine, in the '70's.

I think if you read his initial post again, he is not thinking of a "rat rod" as we have seen recently. He is a "back yard tinkerer" just as a lot of us are and is looking for the same original parts that a restorer would look for like "nuts, bolts, fasteners" and wood pieces. That doesn't sound "rat rod" to me.

In Chiefs' era, they were called "STRIP DOWNS" & RACING them was common on the country roads If they ever decided to sell them, they just "plopped" on a complete BODY.

I drive a Rat- Rod every day. I will put it up against any of your cars for mechanical perfection! I have built race cars that would go 140mph. So get off my ass about Rat- Rods. Ok lets get back to new guy. I am building a speedster That might be the good way for our new friend to go. New guy get ahold of me I can steer you down the path to fun! Mike calls me at home and makes sure I get every thing I ordered Go with him for parts, You will not be sorry! Sorry if I pissed off some people, But keep your opinion to your self. Sorry Bill I could not take one more of it. Don in Indiana
