What is this generator from?
I am mainly a "shoebox" guy, but about 20 years ago, a guy I knew was making a street rod out of a nice low-mileage 1937 V8-60 tudor. He was just going to scrap a bunch of parts, so I rescued them. I am now going through my stash and trying to eliminate stuff I know I'll never use. Among he stuff I came up with was this generator. I wouldn't usually think to much about it, but this one appears to have had the fan mounted on the generator pulley. In casually scanning some threads, it seems that may be something someone out there needs. To the best of my knowledge, this generator had to come from that '37, but I don't know enough to be sure. The unit seems to be complete except for the field coils. Can someone confirm what it is?

Re: What is this generator from?
Thanks, it's good that was confirmed. Mow I would like to know if the 60 hp and 85 generators were the same; also the fan pulley.

Re: What is this generator from?
The 60 hp generators usually had a smaller diameter pulley than the one shown in your picture. That same generator and pulley in your picture was also used on earlier V-8 vehicles. Here are some pictures of some generators removed from '35 - '36 Ford V-8's, and I'm thinking these same generators were used on '33-'34 as well.

Re: What is this generator from?
That generator was also used on commercial and standard 1939 Fords. 1933 to about 36 Fords had a different size armature (smaller), probable put out less amps.

Vince has a lot of information on his site but you need to look up the
part numbers in the parts book to find what they fit. http://www.fordgarage.com/pages/generatorchart.htm Bob |

Re: What is this generator from?
This is the information given in the EFV-8 Club's 1937 Ford Book for the generator used on passenger cars produced that year with a 60 hp, 17 stud, 136ci engine:
