I guess that is the way they did it back in the late 60's and 70's, when they were trying to turn this coupe into a hot rod. The engineering looks crude but would seem to work. Good thing the body was left intact, and I have a couple of stock firewalls to replace the modified one in the car. The plan is to go with a later flathead, but leave the body stock.

It does have a bit of rust in the rockers and lower cowl, but otherwise is a very straight and rust-free body.

Love the car and the story! I'm 65 and bought my three window in 1974 in about the same condition as yours for $350. Luckily, I have had a supportive wife and the good sense to keep it all these years. Its been in four different garages during that time. When I went to register it this year at DMV I took in a pink slip that had been last issued in 1957. There were seven different owners of the car in between 1957 and 1974 when I purchased it and no one had ever registered it. Recently I located a set of original California license plates that read 3D4491. (Thought the first four digits in the license plates were cool!). Over the years I've been accumulating most of the parts that were missing but most everything was there. The toughest piece to find was the driver's side garnish molding. I had to pay more for that one molding then I paid for the entire car in 1974!!!

I finally began the restoration project last year and I'm about a year out from finishing the car to its original condition. The chassis is nearly complete as I'm writing this and I'm really looking forward to putting the body back on the frame. The only non-stock parts on my car will be 16" Kelseys.

What fun it is to learn of another one found and saved!!! I'll post a few photos of my project soon!

Enjoy your find!
Tom

The rear tires are 7.50 by 16, the fronts are 600 by 16. Thanks for all the great comments, and yes Tom, we want to see photos of your car!

Such a nice coupe. Are you planning to run that F-100 box or
removing it?

Nobey - For now I have just cleaned up what was there when I got the car. Some of the modifications like the steering were done in the 60's-early 70's and are not up to today's standards. I will completely redo the chassis when the time comes - right now there are a couple of other projects in the way. It will definitely remain all early Ford!

Thanks, but that's not how I see it. I am fortunate enough to have had four 33-34 Ford coupes, and still have three of them. But this did not happen overnight - I started collecting 33-34 parts and cars in the mid 80's. It took nearly 30 years before I found the best one - this barn find 34 three window.

34ford - that is one beautiful coupe you have! You are very fortunate to have had the car all these years and you have kept it in tremendous condition. Good job!
