Second gear trouble.
I have a 1950 Ford car with a 3 speed transmission and overdrive. I can't get it into second gear, grinding and "Gnashing of Teeth". First and third gears are okay and the shift linkage seems fine.
This happened overnight, no jumping out of second gear or shifting problems previously. I've read that I should probably replace the synchro for 2nd gear. What parts do I replace? How do I find out if some parts are worn out and what they should be dimensionally? Thank you for any responses. azandy |

Re: Second gear trouble.
A good start might be VanPelt's book on overhauling early Ford transmissions. He also sells the parts. Just do a google search for VanPelt.
