Default Illustrations, you wanna see Illustrations

Here's some illustrations from a 1934 Ford quick reference parts chart, these pages are 3 ft by 2 ft. The 1937 grille is for size reference. I have these charts for 1934,1936 1938 and 1941. I would like to find one for 1940.

A few more 3ft X 2ft posters, color. I'll post some of the 1938 and 1941 illustrations tomorrow, before this inner web fad dies out.

I like the fact that the parts drawings are capable of being blown up to that size and still maintain wonderful clarity. They are indeed works of art. Draughtsmen of those days were artistic.

Just a guess but those parts drawings were probably made that size to be used for demonstration in an educational classroom setting.

Most of these drawings are just the same diagrams from the parts books, just a larger format, but when I get to the 1941 version, there are some drawings that do not appear in the parts books.

This group of photos is for 1938 Ford and shown is the cover sheet with the index of the parts groups included. I feel these large format service charts were intended as an aid to the counter parts man. So that when some knucklehead came to the dealership and told the partsman that he needed that thing that holds the gear in the transmission, he could show him the chart and find out what he wanted. It would also help the mechanic in the service dept to help order the parts needed without paging through the parts books.

Now 1941 Service chart, this one has expanded to 23 pages and some diagrams are photos and drawings. I haven't copied all the pages, so if you would like to see a specific parts group, I will take requests, that doesn't mean I will respond, but I will take requests.

More 1941, I have not seen some of these drawings in the parts books for 1941. Also shown is a front and rear 4 cyl engine mounts to go into a 1941 commercial or pickup frame.

There is another entirelydifferent source for high quality Ford drawings beyond the parts books... I did some Ford searching in Google advance patent and posted a lot of A and V8 patent numbers here.
These patents contain wonderful detailed mechanical drawings of Ford stuff, sometimes production parts, sometimes experimental things, and sometimes things you have heard of but never seen...like the '32 power clutch.

Now I will show the next generation chart which covers 1928 to 1947, this is a smaller version, all the previous charts were 3 ft x 2 ft. This chart measures 15 inches X 20 inches.
