Default 1931 slant windshield townsedan

Did anyone other than Murray build a body for the '31 S/W Townsedan?

Yes, Briggs . Ford had instructed both body manufactures to build them the same, unlike the previous models where Briggs and Murray had their own uniqueness .

So I guess it's impossible to tell if you have a Briggs or a Murray. Probably wouldn't make any difference.

There are unimportant differences, fasteners and such, but the parts will interchange, unlike the earlier Briggs and Murrays. The old door window thing, straight top = Briggs, curved top = Murray does not apply to the slant window sedans.

Briggs Slant bodies can be identified by a "B" stamped in various places on body sheetmetal. In particular on the lower right side cowl below the cowl band area. Also found one on the rear valance under the spare tire mount bolt.

There is also a slight difference in the shape of the rain gutters.
