Default '40 merc rear spring in '34 crossmember?

Will a '40 merc rear spring fit in a '34 rear cross member? Want to use the rear to roll frame around.

Not properly with out massaging the curved portion of the cross member.
For roll around purposes the spring may set in enough as is.

You might want to consider altering the spring leaves. I did a later spring to fit into a '32 rear crossmember. After doing the main grinding to get each leaf to fit, get the edges really smooth and rounded like it was before.

If you included your general location in your profile or in your post someone might have a spring that they would loan you or sell you at a reasonable price. PS, PM me if you live in Southern California.
