Front Fender Brackets
What are the differences between the 28/29 & the 30/31 front fender brackets? Is the distance the same between the mounting at the frame, to the head lamp mounting?

Re: Front Fender Brackets
No, the distance between the frame and headlight mounting holes is much longer on the 30-31 front fender brackets. In the first photo, the black bracket is a forged 28. The dirty grey one is an early 30 forged bracket. You can see that the headlight bar mounting is very different between the two.
The second photo is the forged 28 and forged early 30 butt to butt. The third photo are two 30 -31 brackets, one forged, the other stamped steel. Both have identical configurations. |

OK...Excellent comparisons.....So...the headlamp mounting bar is on the 'curvature' of the bracket....for the 1930....What do you mean when you say 'early' 30? Are you referring to the 28/29 style?

03marauderman is online now Report Post No. The early 1930 brackets were forged, like the 1928 brackets. However, they are shaped exactly the same as later 1930-31 stamped brackets. See the 3rd photo. |
