Default GPS Speedo space time continuum error

I've got two GPS speedos, a few years old, that have both gone bung together.

The manufacturer says it is to do with the recent time reset on the GPS satellites that happens once every 20 years.

The GPS chips will need to be changed.

Is that why my Magellan GPS 2000 from the mid '90s doesn't lock on any more?

In a four hour trip yesterday one of them locked on only for about 10 minutes. The rest of the time it spent searching. Same trip the other way a few days before and it locked on for about half of the trip only.

My GPS has been silly lately (again). Only a couple of days ago it gave me 3 instructions without drawing a breath between them. Perform a U turn, turn left in 800 metres, turn right in 300 metres. I didn't know what to do till it struck me. Turn the @#$%^& thing off!
Every GPS we have ever oned has been given a female name. I wonder why!?!?!

Updraught, Synchro, have you tried updating your units online?
I finally managed to get my Magellan to work by re-initializing it.

My Garmin Nuvi is about 10 years old. It worked fine this past week end.

I contacted the manufacturer and they said the units will have to be sent back for the GPS chip replacement. There is only a power plug on the speedos.

The guy at the post office had heard of the issue! Units were 3 and 4 years old.
I have an old Garmin I'll have to check. I've never had much luck with map and compass, always get lost.
