Default Need help with modern points

I do not know how the clip that connects the lower and upper plates is connected. This will be installed on a new distributor using modern points and plates that came as a “kit” from Mac’s. No instructions.

The clip is about an inch long with a hole on the side and a raised “dimple” on a bent end of the arm. The clip is brass colored. I tried to upload a couple of photos but had problems.

Thanks in advance.

The hole goes on the double nutted part of the points. The tang portion points down and rides on the wireless plate. Take your time and if done correctly will work quite well. Have many miles on mine and trouble free.

Get rid of the clip and replace the connection between the upper and lower plate with a pigtail type wire as was done on the original set up and will have no problems. The mechanical connection is prone to problems. This is my opinion after having fore mentioned problem.

Every damp or foggy morning created a no spark condition. A hair fryer fixed it every time.
