Default Placement of frame ID numbers

Hey Guys ! I believe that the frame number was stamped on the drivers side right under the cowl. I cannot seem to see it. Was the frame also stamped in another place ? Thanks Tom

If the car was assembled in Canada you won't find a frame number at all. They can also be a very shallow stamping. That is a floppy piece of metal they are stamping on with a hammer.Look at some frame stampings, what you will see a lot is the bottoms of the numbers may be fairly deep, and the tops very shallow or barely indented at all.The bottoms of the numbers have some support from the vertical part of the frame, and the open part of the horizontal open part of the frame just bounces when being hammered on.

For US car, that is the only place besides the engine.

Hey Tom, if you want to verify if that is a Canadian car, look for Robertson screws. They are the ones that have the square indentation in the head instead of a slot. In my cabriolet, I found them along the front of the seat support and along the back. The more I looked, the more I found, and absolutely no stamped on frame number.

Good luck,

Mike

Try putting some oil on frame where VIN should be. Enjoy.

The splash apron has to be removed to see it.
