Many European car makers used to use a pressurised tank to supply the fuel to the motor - generally about 2 psi. I've seen pumps mounted on the dash to pressurise the tank and I've seen the exhaust used. A line was run from the exhaust to the tank (via a valve and flame suppressor) which allowed the inert exhaust gasses to enter and pressurise it.
