Thanks! I'll try that! LOL!

Old original two blade fans tend to break and throw blades through your radiator or your head and should not be used, there have been very few reports of failure from the new aluminum two blade fans, and they look correct. I would recommend a new aluminum to blade fan, you must put a flat washer on the shaft before you put the nut on to hold the blade on the shaft.
If you have some hubcap material left over, you might be able to make a fan to go with your hubcaps.

Thanks everybody. Interesting food for thought. I have kicked the idea around to see about taking fan blades off and putting an electric fan on. After checking, the radiator is 18" wide, but you still need a water pump, and the shaft sticks out, sow now you only have 10.5" at the bottom of the radiator.

I have decided to just get a two blade (the new ones!) And go with how Ford designed it!

Thanks again!

I don't think anybody will criticise you for that!

While not horsepower it is information on the different fans and how they work;

Tom, I mean my vintage repro was factory welded along the edges of the blades. It has the same 'steel' appeal as the original ones; at least it won't crack the same place the originals would (the weld between the center and the blade). Rather nice surpise this after market invention. Too bad I cannot identify it it by vendor .......

Do you have any pictures?
This sounds like a repro I've never seen before? Thanks, Tom

I has an original fan that had been brazed up so I didn't pay it much attention. Glad I did in the end. New cracks had appeared along the blades and through the pulley so it was about to let go. As I have said, my cars are drivers so it now sports a plastic fan.
I wouldn't trust any of those original fans, welded or not. If you want the original look, the cast aluminium ones are OK.

I have been running an original 2 blade fan since 1961,I painted it a high luster black and check it periodically .

Tex- I assume this is for your sedan. I know in the future you are planning on adding an AC. If this is still the case, I would suggest a 6 blade fan as the fan is mounted to the hub, not all as one piece like a 2 blade. It made me feel better with the added stress of the AC on the belt. Not sure why. But you will rarely see someone running a 2 blade or 4 blade fan with an AC. The plastic is also more forgiving if you hit it with something while working on the engine while it's running.

I put one of the four blade fans on my car from Mac's but have not been able to put enough time on it to see how good it works. Just putting my two cents in.

HP = CFM x Pounds per square foot / 33000 x Fan Efficiency

The 6-blade plastic fan moves the most air, so it will have the higher horsepower. The horsepower is parasitic on the engine as detracts from power to the rear wheels.
