I use a paper punch in one corner of the chip, then hold it up to the paint

I think I would do a little more digging to verify that is the original paint.I've had four cars that were unmolested as far as the hidden paint is concerned,and none had the paint coverage on the inside cowl panels that your has.I have two of them opened up right now.My early 31 Tudor was black,and the inside of the cowl just has splotches of black overspray.My 30 Standard Roadster was dawn gray,and is the same way.That car has some kind of crayon marking inside,and they kind of oversprayed right over it.Both cars have lots of bare metal spots in those hidden areas.Your car looks like somebody had it apart and did a good job of covering everything to preserve it.All my welting has the original paint on it too,and you cab see where they passed the gun over it when painted.
