Question High cost of licensing a Model A

I just got the renewal notices for both my Models A's (and my 51 F1). Man these things are expensive to license. $12.67 for each one. And the plates are only good for 5 years...... So I am curious what does your state charge?

Point of reference, My 5 year old F150 is still over $300 per year.

Pa has no renewal for antique tags which is nice!!!

I have 6 antique plated old vehicles on the road and it costs zero.

I drive one of my f-1s daily so i do have a regular truck plate on it which runs 58 or so

North Dakota has a one-time charge for a pioneer plate, but I don't remember how much it was. You never have to renew and there are no driving limitations.

Cow Hampshire

$15 New Antique - State
$6 Renewal Antique - State
$8 State Plate Fee (Usually done with new)
$5 Town fee (all registrations)
Town may impose additional "Improvement" charges as the voters approve.
Vehicle tax - which reaches minimum after 6 years - about $20 IIRC.

Also annual inspection with is $45 at my garage of choice (rates can vary) which includes the basic $20 safety inspection and an additional $25 "Environmental Inspection" (which is but another reason to pay him to say "yup it doesn't leak gas or smoke.")

It has tripled here in Alaska in the last few years on Historic Vehicle plates.

Up to $15.00 for a permanent plate and registration, Titles are also up to $15.00.

Most modern everyday vehicles are $100.00 for a 2 year registration.

This is online, if available, it will cost you an extra $10.00 if you show up at DMV to see a smiling face.

Bob,
Cool license topper.
I grew up in western NY and when I rode along on the trip to Palmyra to buy groceries, I saw some "I LIKE IKE" banners hanging around town. I was too young to know what it meant, so I asked my mom about it.

In Minnesota it cost me just under a couple hundred to change ownership on the Stude this summer, but now I have a collector plate for life. However on newer cars the plates cost based on car value. In other words we keep getting taxed every year on the same car, and this past year they now added a wheelage tax.

I Utah I paid $200.00 for a life time plate. After a few years Utah changed the law and said my plate was no longer good. It now costs me $10.00 every year. I challanded this and wanted my $200.00 back and the State told me to forget it and pay the $10.00

Antique vehicles are free of Road Tax (licence) in the UK :

Historic vehicles

You don’t have to pay vehicle tax on vehicles made before 1 January 1974 (known as ‘historic vehicles’). Insurance rates are pretty reasonable if you accept certain limitations.

MAINE is $15 for a new plate sticker. Plate lasts forever unless you ruin it.

Illinois has two categories, Antique Vehicle, $6.00 a year or Extended Antique Vehicle, $51.00 a year. Difference is the months and reasons when your can drive on the roads. AV is for driving to and from gas stations, to and from events or shows only, year round. EAV has those same restrictions from 1 Nov- 28 Feb. From 1 Mar-31 Oct , no restrictions apply. Personal or Vanity Plates for either AV or EAV is a total of $90.00 a year.
