TREVOR (Merc Man From Oz) ....................
Those, under the hood toolboxes, sure would solve a lot of the space shortage
issues, that come with the early Fords. I've seen them, but never found one. I think that I would use one.
Thank you,
MIKE (mikeburch)

Those Dunsford tool boxes were huge! You could darn near carry enough tools to tear down your engine on the side of the road. Don, thanks for posting that Dunsford ad. That's interesting. I learned something new today.

The guy who made the tool box for KPar,s 33 from my one made an excellent job, pricey but quality, with the low Aussie $$ it may be an option to get one made here by him, and sent over.

My 35 Cab had a wooden box in the rumble area. When I restored the car I bought a new upholstery kit for it and it didn't have the cutout and flap for the tool box. It's been 10 years...I hope I buried the box behind the upholstery panel!

I bet that the new kit did not have this "pouch", either. I don't think it was for the Top Boot, but just for misc. items, when riding in the rumble seat. It is just an open pouch, made from leatherette.

Rich, These accessory Tool Boxes don't interfere with the Radiator Support Rods or the Choke and Throttle Rods, as you can see from the above pictures. The only issue is when you have a Fender mounted Spare Wheel, as the Sliding Lids needs to be shorter so that they can be removed.

This is a potential problem with the Lids on the 1933 & 1934 Ford Accessory Tool Boxes when vehicle is fitted with a Fender mounted Spare Wheel. The Lid needs to be shorter so that it can be removed without removing the Spare Wheel. You can see in the top photo that the Lid hits the Spare Wheel and cannot be removed. This Tool Box was a recent addition to this green 34. In the lower photo, the Tool Box was fitted to this blue 34 when the vehicle was new, and therefore has a shorter Lid. The Lid can easily be removed on this car. Hope that this information helps.

rich, The radiator support rods are attached to the firewall above the toolbox. The hand throttle and choke rods to the carburettor pass through the channel section provided at the lower center of the toolbox. Regards, Kevin.

I am doing a restoration of a '34 Standard 5-window; very interested in info about the trunk tool box. Any help would be appreciated; thanks in advance.

Another thing ,the handle thingy on the lids is great for resting the hood side on when open.

So is this Australian box bolted to the firewall or does it hang from the radiator support rods?
Does the top open?
Is it hinged in the top center?
Where can I get one?

It bolts to through the bottom of the box onto the flat part of the fire wall, not by the rods.
see KPAR who posted earlier in this post.

Steve, The Australian Accessory Tool Box for 1933 and 1934 Fords sits on two small pieces of wood and is mounted on the Cowl. Four holes need to be drilled into the Cowl to mount it. They are a very handy accessory. A similar Accessory Tool Box was also offered on the 1935 and 1936 Fords, and it also sits on two pieces of wood, however, the 1935-1936 Ford Accessory Tool Boxes are much more professionally made. The same can't be said for the 1933-1934 Tool Boxes, as they are much more amateurish.
